Jail/Correctional Facilities Risk Management and Civil Liability Course

Salem, Oregon
May 22-24, 2018

Violating the constitutional rights of detainees and prisoners can lead to costly claims and lawsuits. Today, the importance of good corrections operations has never been more critical — including providing sound medical and health care, preventing suicides, and avoiding the use of excessive force.

During this two and a half-day course, CIS (Citycounty Insurance Services) and DPSST share the latest risk management trends and emerging best practices for corrections. Presented by The Legal and Liability Risk Management Institute (LLRMI), the course highlights:

• Administrative Investigations in Correctional Facilities
• Influencing Lawsuits
• In-Custody Deaths and How to Reduce Liability
• Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
• Detoxification Issues in Jails
• Cell Searches and Shakedowns
• Importance of Intake Screening and Inmate Observations to Include Health Screening and Classification.

All jail/corrections command staff, supervisors, and managers are encouraged to attend.
