We regret to inform you of the line of duty death of Cowlitz County Deputy Justin DeRosier on April 13, 2019.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Earle A. & Virginia H. Chiles Center, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd., Portland, OR 97203. This is on the University of Portland campus.

The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Department issued the following press release:

“Deputy DeRosier was 29 years old and leave a wife and 5-month old daughter. He graduated from Kelso High School in 2008, followed by WSU, with a degree in Criminal Justice. He served as a Police Officer during summers in Bristol Bay Borough, Alaska,and was hired full time as a Deputy Sheriff by the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office. While there, he served part-time with the Oakesdale Town Marshall’s Office. He then joined Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office in 2016. In his career, Deputy DeRosier has served as a Patrol Deputy, SWAT Officer, and a boat operator.”
